Preparing For Your First Under Eye Filler Treatment
A few days before your appointment, limit blood thinners such as anti-inflammatories, fish oil, and alcohol. By limiting these it will reduce your risk of bruising from the under-eye filler. Do not discontinue prescribed medications.
Eat and drink a normal breakfast or lunch before to your appointment, low blood sugar can make you lightheaded during treatment.

The under-eye filler treatment is performed by your Injector, but you will also be accompanied by our medical team. They are there to assist with the treatment and monitor your comfort levels. Your injections themselves will take anywhere from 20-40 minutes.
Your Treatment Recovery
It is essential to consider the midface when treating the under eye. Often times the volume loss in the midface is the primary factor of dark circles and under eye bags. When you lose volume in the midface you leave the tear trough unsupported and sunken. By using filler to first replace the volume in the midface, you receive the necessary support for the under eye. Once your midface is supported, we can now treat the tear trough with less filler. Recovery suggestions:
- Apply ice on and off the under eye for 48 hours, and then switch to a warm compress after 48 hours.
- Sleep with your head elevated above your heart, the next two nights to help alleviate swelling.
- Do not apply makeup or any lotion over the under eyes for 4 hours after filler injections.
- Do not swim or use a sauna in the next 48 hours due to the risk of infection.
- Do not rub or massage the under eyes for the next 48 hours.

Is Under Eye Filler Treatment Painful
You may be concerned about the pain of under eye filler treatment, but we have several options to help alleviate discomfort. We can use a combination of topical and injectable lidocaine to numb the area. If you are a little extra anxious, we can offer nitrous oxide to help calm your nerves. All our fillers have lidocaine in them, so the treatment area will continue to be numb as the under-eye filler treatment continues.

You will notice a change immediately after your treatment, but your actual results will not be visible until 4 weeks after your procedure. Your body needs 4 weeks for the swelling and bruising to resolve completely and then you will see exactly how the filler will lay. This is only the first step in your treatment. Your results will be most visible after you have had your refinement visit. This is where we see you about 3 months to do a second round of filler injections. For natural-looking results, it is important to layer the filler over multiple visits. This helps to avoid overfilling and creating a puffy look. Depending on your anatomy, it could take a third visit.
